There is actually nothing wrong to use the Ask±n to define SL/TP of a buy. It's a matter of choice.

You are talking about how much the price has to move to hit your SL/TP. It's your choice to do it this way.

Most people want to set a 10 pips SL (for example), so that when their trade closed they lost maximum 10 pips. They don't care if the price has moved 11, 12 or whatever pips to reach it. That's an other choice.
