I'm a newbie to MT4 and basically just learning from various videos / tutorials online. My understanding is that a VPS is advised once I wish to deploy my portfolio of EAs for automated trading, but what are the best options for optimising an EA within MT4 itself, i.e. via the Strategy Tester?
I notice that on my home laptop (reasonable spec), backtesting is fairly quick but optimisation with say ~3,000 combinations over 60 days of data for one symbol is taking a couple of hours at least. What's the best approach here? get a beefed up VM in the cloud and Remote desktop to it and run MT4 and optimisation on there instead? Any advice on a infrastructure setup for a newbie would be appreciated.
