Waiting for Update (MT4, takes forever)

Hi All,

I have large history files, I'm running backtests on the 5min chart from 2004 to now... If I set the start date to 2005, 2010, 2018 it takes longer and longer to actually start up.  I assume it's running through allll of the ticks from the beginning until it gets to my start date.  Is there any way to speed this up?  Someone index my hst files or something? 

I'm usually pretty good about finding articles and past forum posts on my own but this one was elusive.

reduce Tools → Options (control+O) → Charts → Max bars in chart to something reasonable (like 1K.)

Thank you.  I feel like this may only apply to active charts.  My tester still began at the beginning of the history file even though my start date for the test was way different.  Is this just "how it is" with MT4 back tester?  Or did I miss something?
