It is highly advisable to subscribe to a VPS service in order to avoid internet and power disruptions.
I actually had same questions as well. It actually makes sense that you must be logged on for trades to be copied to your account. It is not possible to open a new deal for you when you are not logged on to your account. VPS services don't come cheap either.
I have not subscribe yet to any signal, but to my understanding you need to open your terminal all the time in order to copy trades, that is why it is recommended to have a VPS service to have reliable connection all the time, VPS at MQL5 has very competitive rates.
