If you are learning a foreign language, would you consider a teacher who is fluent in that language or would you prefer a teacher that cannot speak the language beyond very basic?
IF you are learning ANY subject, you would be a fool if paid to learn from someone who is not competent in the subject.

I agree that, as people say the fruit falls not far from the tree.
That is, the personality of a teacher will descend on his pupil.
If the teacher who taught him good, will result from the people who taught also good.

This is my opinion. Factors that may affect the student's success from his teacher may be more obedient to the rules given by the teacher and also in the management of money more wisely.
