What can you do to guard against internet and power outages when your in a trade and maybe sleeping?

Use a laptop - built in hours worth of battery backup.

Or you can do like I and many other people do which is to use a remote server. Whilst I use it mainly for EA's there is nothing to stop you having a manual system set up. That way you could check it from work, the library or a friends house.

Just an idea.

Power Failures, here's what I did.

In hindsight, I would recommend a 600W inverter tho'.
