The list of Top products appeared in MQL5 Market since the service was established. It is designed to draw attention to free and commercial trading applications that are the most popular among traders. At first, the list of the most popular products was based on a very simple equation: one purchase was equal to one download. Therefore, applications with the greatest number of downloads occupied the highest rating positions.

However, the rating has gradually stopped serving its purpose failing to show really popular products. All leading positions have been occupied by free products leaving traders with the issue of choosing commercial ones. That is why we have decided to revise the calculation formula.

Since January 2013, we have implemented the new method of calculating the ratings of popular products. We will keep it secret for several reasons revealing only a few points. The purpose of the rating has not changed. It shows the list of the most popular trading applications. Both free and paid programs can occupy high rating positions if they are actually in great demand among traders.

The following conditions are considered when developing the list of top products:

The rating is based mainly on the number of downloads and purchases for the last 30 days. Paid applications with a large number of demo version downloads cannot occupy top positions if they do not have actual purchases. This suggests that the claimed quality of the product or its price does not match the expectations of customers.
Applications downloaded less than 30 times are not accepted to the list to avoid the impact of chance and attempts to drive up the numbers.
Expensive commercial products, as well as more affordable applications have an equal chance of occupying the leading positions in the list of top products.

The ratings are updated every two hours reflecting the actual preferences of MQL5 Market and making the final list relevant.

Thus, the Top section is occupied by the most popular and best-selling trading applications.
