Displayed objects and their handles

Would anyone be able to tell me if it is possible to code the display of any Object such that its 'handles' are on display, (i.e. it can be moved without double clicking? It can be a problem trying to do this if there are other objects in the vicinity or if you cannot find the correct spot. I would have thought there was an ObjectSet function to do this, but if there is I have yet to find it. Also is it possible to get the index bar for an item that has been positioned by time or XY coordinates.
