setting stop loss and profit order

Hi,

I'm just new here :). Just wanted to ask how to set the stop loss and profit order in MT4 platform?

for stop loss, i tried to use say 0.0005 (as 5 pips) but it just doesn't work. Then I tried to use the

buttons to increase or decrease the value in reference to the limit order. Example, limit order is

1.0000 and by using the up button to increase by 5 pips as my stop loss to 1.0005.


I also notice that at one time the stop loss worked at ~30pips (isn't this too much a stop loss?) at

that time i was trading AUD/USD. Sorry i hope its clear. :(


Please help.

Merjo, welcome to that forum;


almost all providers require a minimum pip amount to set tp/sl. This shall help to avoid scalpers and overloading servers. Many brokers require 20 pips (minilot) 10 pips(normal). Press F9 and choose "Pending order" from list and read the info text near buttons. There you will see how many pips broker requires to be far from CURRENT price.
