what's the difference between .hst and .fxt files?

Could someone please explain why there is 2 types of history files: .hst files in the \history folder and .fxt files in the \expert\history folder?

Do they contain the same data (same ticks), only different formats? It does not look so, the number and names of these files (Symbol+Period) do not match. Is it so people can play with the history data in the Tester or copy custom tick data files there without screwing up thier real history data?

When I open the History Center - which files am I actually looking at?

What is the purpose of the downloads folder with all the .dat files in the \history folder?

thanks

hst - collected bars data for charts
fxt - generated ticks data for testing
