Why I Scrapped 19 Versions Before Shipping CTrend FX Ultimate
Most retail expert advisors I've studied share the same weakness: one indicator decides the trade. That's fast to build and fast to blow up the moment the market stops behaving like the backtest.
CTrend FX Ultimate is built on a different premise — confluence. Four independently-calculated signals have to agree before the EA opens a position:
Fractals — market structure
RSI across four configurations — momentum, cross-checked rather than taken from a single lookback
A Vorticity-based filter — trend strength
Moving averages — confirmation
If any one of the four disagrees, the EA doesn't trade. That costs frequency — fewer setups qualify — but it's the trade-off I chose after 19 earlier versions taught me that a single-signal entry is really just a coin flip with better production values.
Every trade still carries mandatory stop-loss, take-profit, a break-even step, a trailing stop, and an account-level max-drawdown cap — the confluence filter decides whether to enter, not whether to manage risk once in.

An Honest Checklist for Vetting a Trading Signal — Applied to My Own
Most people evaluating a signal provider only ask one question: "how much has it made?" That's the wrong first question, because it's also the easiest number to fake. Regulators have pursued real cases involving a simple trick: split a mailing list in half, send one half a "buy" call and the other a "sell" call on the same instrument, then only keep marketing to the half whose call happened to be right. Repeat that a few times and you can show a "winning streak" to a shrinking audience without a single real trade behind it. It's arithmetic, not skill — and it's why a claimed win rate, by itself, proves nothing.
Here's the checklist I'd actually use — and I'll apply it to my own CTrend FX Live Signal in the same post, rather than only to hypothetical bad actors:
Is the track record independently verified, not self-reported? Mine is hosted and calculated by MQL5 directly from a live connected account, not from screenshots I control.
Is the provider or the underlying system rules-based and disclosed, or a "black box"? CTrend FX runs on a documented four-filter EA (fractals, RSI, Vorticity, moving averages) — the logic isn't a secret dressed up as "proprietary AI."
Does it disclose drawdown, not just gains? Every update I post includes the drawdown figure, not just the growth number.
How long is the track record, stated honestly? Mine is one week old. Anyone telling you a short track record is "proven" is not being straight with you — including if that's me, on a slide from three months from now if I ever slip and forget to caveat it.
Are you free to use your own broker and account, or are you locked into theirs? Signal-copying here doesn't require routing through a specific broker tied to the seller.
Does it come with guarantees or "100% win rate" claims? If it does, that's the clearest tell of all. No legitimate system guarantees outcomes in forex.
I'd rather you run this checklist on me and walk away unconvinced than have you skip it and get burned somewhere else. If the numbers above earn your attention, follow along — the signal updates weekly, warts included.

CTrend FX Live Signal — Week 1, In Full
One week ago I opened the CTrend FX Live Signal to public view. The idea isn't to show you a highlight reel — it's to show you the actual account, trade by trade, from day one, including whatever that turns out to be.
Here's everything after week one:
19 trades taken, across AUDNZD, XAUUSD, AUDCAD and USDCHF
16 winners, 3 losers — an 84.21% win rate
Account growth: 2.29%
Max drawdown: 1.09% (by equity)
Profit factor: 13.45
I want to be direct about what these numbers do and don't mean. Nineteen trades over seven days is not a track record — it's a starting point. MQL5's own statistics engine flags a sample this small as insufficient to draw conclusions from, and I agree with that assessment. A profit factor over 13 looks striking on a small sample and will almost certainly move around — probably down — as the sample grows; that's normal, not a red flag, and I'd rather show it honestly now than wait until the number looks more "seasoned."
What I can tell you is what's driving the trades: the signal runs on CTrend FX Ultimate, a rule-based MT4 EA that requires four independent filters — fractal structure, a four-timeframe RSI read, a Vorticity-based trend-strength filter, and moving-average confirmation — to agree before it takes a position. Every trade carries a hard stop-loss, take-profit, break-even step, and trailing stop, with a max-drawdown cap at the account level. Nothing here is discretionary once the EA is running.
