Diversification Forex and Gold

A rule-based, diversified portfolio that combines two independent strategies on one account:

• Gold (XAUUSD): intraday swing entries with a fixed 200-pip stop loss and 400-pip take profit (1:2 risk-reward). Most positions close within the same trading day.
• Forex (GBPJPY, CHFJPY, USDJPY, EURJPY, USDCAD): multi-day swing positions with a defined stop loss and a take profit of roughly twice the stop.

Historically, the two strategies have shown near-zero correlation, so the portfolio aims for a smoother equity curve than either strategy alone.

Risk management

• Fixed risk of 1% of equity per trade, calculated from the stop-loss distance.
• Every position has a stop loss and a take profit from the moment it opens. No martingale, no grid, no averaging down, no hedging.
• Maximum 4 forex positions open at the same time. Total open risk never exceeds 5% of equity.
• Drawdown control from the equity peak: risk is cut to 0.5% at a 20% drawdown, and trading stops at a 25% drawdown for a full review.
• Weekly circuit breaker: trading pauses for the rest of the week if the weekly loss exceeds 8%.

Account

• Starting balance $20,000, broker MRG, MetaTrader 4.
• Average holding time: gold about 5 hours; forex about 1–3 days. Some forex positions are held over weekends and pay swap.

Recommendations for subscribers

• Recommended deposit: $20,000 to mirror the risk profile exactly. The minimum is $2,000; below that, the 0.01 minimum lot on gold means more than 1% risk per trade.
• Leverage 1:200 or higher.
• Use a broker with low spreads on XAUUSD and JPY pairs.
• Expect drawdowns in the 10–20% range as a normal part of this strategy. Subscribe only with capital you can afford to see fluctuate.
