I've tested this method without an indicator, and found it very profitable. I'm excited to get started with this.

My question: Is there a recommended timeframe I should operate this on? Or does it not make a difference?

Congrats! I'm glad someone finally automated this strategy!

Thank you! This indicator should be effective on all timeframes. I prefer to use it on M15 and H4 personally.

I downloaded this for automated demo.   I am not a computer guy.   It seems to be partly working.  it is scanning.  I dont see where i enter the position to be traded or stop loss/target fields.   Please help.  Thanks.

As this is an indicator, it will only alert you of breakouts, rather than place and close trades automatically. Stop losses and take profits are left to user discretion, but using the level of the nearest cluster as the TP and a reward/risk ratio of >2 as the basis for the SL is recommended. More information on the approach this indicator uses and how it can be used may be found at: http://blackglasses.me/2014/05/11/fractals-and-forex-a-new-perspective/

Hello Mr Shea,

I've just bought your Fractal SR Clusters indicator, after reading your most interesting article at  (http://blackglasses.me/2014/05/11/fractals-and-forex-a-new-perspective/). Which i found from a Google sell (what else..lol.

I've been using Fractal for a few weeks now after reading a paper written by researchers at the FED who several years or more ago performed an experiment to look for patterns in the Forex market. They were conservative with their conclusions, but stated that several time frame patterns could be seen repeating in the Forex pairs under study. The repeats were found to be different using different pairs. They were quoting USD/DM USD/ITAL and USD/JPY so that shows how old the study was. Amazing what you can find in the FED! They recommended that their findings could be used as the basis for a computer programmed to predict these timings. Researching further led me to consider Fractals and then a search of the MT5 site turned up more about Fractels and indicators. These have proved very use

A first look at your FF SR Fractals shows me the Fractal Price levels, but no time information? Hmm plugged in MT4 Fractals and lo and behold. Substituting a better time Fractal Indicator with repressed noise, now this looks very promising!!

Thank you for the comment! I hope the indicator serves you well with your trading decisions. The time information component was a consideration, but as the method was being refined, I noticed that the relevant time information was implicitly covered by the fact that the fractals were unbroken. So by limiting support and resistance levels to these unbroken fractals, we account for that time piece in a more binary fashion (i.e. whether it is relevant or irrelevant). The last piece of the puzzle was to determine a maximum lookback period to set as an upper bound for the time component, which is left to the user as a parameter. As always, it is best to confirm the trend prior to entry. My personal favorite is ADX with an HH/HL/LH/LL indicator.

Thanks again and happy trading!

Daniel,

Would it be possible to add an adjustable fractal option to your great indicator?

Thank You,
