The following statistics reports are from Quant Analyzer Pro based on Back Test results from Jan 2012 to Jan 2017 Real Tick Real Spread + $7 Round Trip Commission (per standard lot):
If you've not check out my video in the product page, please take a look as it shows you how I performed a 5 years back test from Jan 2012 to Jan 2017 using Real Variable spread + $7 commission (round trip) with Tick Data Suite V2.
The purpose of the video is to show you a complete back test process from start to end, with full transparency on the back test settings used.
No behind the scene manipulation, no hidden settings, all for viewers to see in the video with 100% transparency.
I just want to highlight again that the News Filter cannot be used in Strategy Tester as it can only be used when running the EA on Live or Demo account.
For Back Tests, you can use the default EA settings but remember to set the account deposit to $3000 as this is the recommended deposit as mentioned on the product page.
The past 2 weeks (since Trump's speech) have been extremely challenging for most grid strategies and a number of them crashed due to the extremely strong trends triggered mainly from fundamental news events. The interchange between risk uptake and risk aversion with USD strength along with speeches from Trump, Yellen, Draghi, and NFP data has fuelled this roller coaster ride in a short 2 weeks.
Despite the market turmoil, I am pleased to say that Grid Hero has coped very well in these difficult times with a reasonably low DD and turned around with profit instead of losses.
These difficult times are very good real life tests for any grid strategies out there and Grid Hero has passed the test with low risk which shows its robustness even in challenging times in real life trading.
I'll be making some slight enhancements to the EA, to be included in Version 1.1.
It is going to be an exciting ride and I welcome you on board :)
It is good to keep both REAL and DEMO signals running at the same time because it allows you to assess if an EA is sensitive to real trading constraints like slippages, liquidity and spread widening.
Such trading constraints will usually surface in real trading accounts but not in demo, hence if your EA did well in Demo but not in Live, it means your EA is sensitive to the above mentioned trading constraints.
That is the reason why I keep both REAL and DEMO signals running for Grid Hero, so that everybody can see its performance in REAL and in DEMO.
So far Grid Hero's results in REAL and DEMO are very similar as you can see from my signals, which means Grid Hero is not sensitive to slippages, liquidity or spread widening.
But of course nonetheless, it is still important to choose a good broker :)
I just noticed that the default value for "Max Lot Size" is incorrectly set in the EA, and this makes a lot of difference in your back test results!!!
The Max Lot Size should be "0.1" instead of the current default value of "0.05".
This is the cause of the undesirable back test results if you were back testing with the default value of 0.05 using the standard tick data downloaded from MT4 History Center.
Please manually change it to 0.1 and then do your back tests again, you will should instantly see the expected profitable results.
Or you can simply apply the attached set file.
And in your back test, please remember to set deposit at $3000 which is the recommended amount.
And of course if you're running the EA on live account, please make the change asap.
This change will be incorporated in the upcoming Version 1.1, along with other enhancement features.
Looks like the dominant trend is changing for EURUSD to the upside with yesterday's risk uptake as a result of the rates hike from yesterday's FOMC Press Conference.
The Fed Reserve increased its benchmark interest rate amid rising confidence that the economy is poised for more robust growth.
Grid Hero is built in with diligent trend detection mechanism and is able to effectively detect dominant trend changes and trade in direction of the trend.
It is critical for Grid strategies to trade in the dominant trend as it will significantly improve its profitability while minimising risks.
If you're currently using any trend following strategies, you might want to take note of this potential switch of the dominant trend.
Grid Hero is done for the week and will resume trading on Monday 2am (GMT+3). Grid Hero is 100% automated and my EA settings are visible on my live signals.
Attached here is the Version 1 Set file which I am currently using on my live signals and these are my recommended settings for all Grid Hero users.
Important Note: The Set
file has News Filter enabled. Hence please follow the instructions on
the "Overview" page to add the news URL and set the correct GMT Offset
value.
In the Set file the GMT Offset value is set to 3 and that is because my brokers are all on GMT +3. Hence it is important that you find out the GMT Offset value for your broker.
Once Version 1.1 is approved and published in the MQL market, I'll upload here the updated Set file for Version 1.1.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: The Daylight Saving change is today (12 Mar).
This change is critical for the News Filter.
A wrong GMT Offset value will result in a misalignment of the news timing, hence please ensure you make the change now before Monday open.
So for example if your broker's current GMT Offset is +2, then from today onward, it'll be changed to +3.
If you're unsure what is your broker's GMT Offset, you can find out easily from your broker, or check out the Grid Hero FAQ.
This applies to other EAs as well if they're using any GMT Offset parameter, so do take note.
