Gold Meridian is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 designed specifically for trading gold against the US dollar (XAUUSD). It combines a straightforward moving average crossover strategy with automated order execution, signal-based exits, and a configurable daily closing time.

Designed for the M12 timeframe, Gold Meridian evaluates completed candles and responds to confirmed changes in trend direction. An integrated dashboard keeps trading activity and performance statistics visible directly on your chart.

Trading Strategy

Gold Meridian uses two Simple Moving Averages, with default periods of 50 and 200.

• Buy signal: the fast SMA crosses above the slow SMA.

• Sell signal: the fast SMA crosses below the slow SMA.

• Signal confirmation: crossovers are evaluated using completed M12 candles.

• Position management: an opposite signal triggers closure of the existing EA position before a new trade is considered.

• Daily close: the EA attempts to close its positions at the configured hour, set to 20:00 broker server time by default, and pauses new entries for the remainder of the day.

The strategy uses a fixed lot size. It does not use martingale, grid trading, or automatic lot increases after losses.

Account and Trading Requirements

Starting account balance: USD 500 with leverage of 1:25, using 0.01 lot.

Actual margin requirements depend on your broker’s gold contract specifications and the current market price. Sufficient free margin must remain available for trading and floating losses.

Suggested initial configuration:

Gold Meridian recognizes supported gold symbols through their names or symbol specifications, including compatible broker suffixes. It is intended for spot gold instruments rather than expiring futures contracts.

Historical Test Example

The supplied Strategy Tester report covers January 1–October 27, 2026, using XAUUSD on M12.

These figures describe a historical simulation, rather than live trading performance. Results vary with broker conditions, spreads, commissions, execution, and market behavior. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Setup

1. Attach Gold Meridian to your broker’s XAUUSD / Gold Cash M12 chart.

2. Enable Algo Trading in MetaTrader 5 and allow trading in the EA settings.

3. Check the fixed lot size and the daily closing hour.

4. Confirm that sufficient M12 price history is available.

5. Keep MetaTrader 5 running and connected, or use a suitable VPS.

The EA waits for a new candle after initialization and enters when a fresh confirmed crossover occurs.

Position Exit Model

Gold Meridian uses opposite crossover signals and a scheduled daily close, rather than fixed broker-side Stop Loss or Take Profit orders.

Exit management requires the terminal to remain running, connected, and authorized to trade. Scheduled closure is subject to market availability and successful execution; it does not guarantee a maximum loss.
