Adaptive Trend Channel ATC

Adaptive Trend Channel (ATC) — clean trend channels that start where the market actually turned.

ATC draws trend channels directly on your chart and anchors each one to a real market reversal, not to an arbitrary number of candles. The result is a clear picture of where the current trend began, how steep it is, and when price leaves the channel.

How it works

• Reversals are detected automatically from market volatility (ATR), so the sensitivity adapts to the instrument and the timeframe.
• For every swing a regression channel is built. The edges are set by the actual candle bodies (or wicks, your choice).
• A regression midline runs through the channel. It shows the true direction and slope of the trend, adapts to every reversal, and continues as a dotted ray into the future. It can optionally be weighted by tick volume.
• The channel of the current swing is drawn live. Finished channels stay on the chart, with dashed rays extending into the future.
• A breakout is confirmed only after several candles close beyond the ray (3 by default), which filters out most single-candle spikes.
• Optional popup and push alerts on a confirmed breakout or reversal.
• Channel colour shows the direction: green for up, red for down, grey for flat.

Minimal by design. No dashboard, no fill, no clutter. Just the channels, the midline, the rays and a small label when something happens.

Works on any symbol and any timeframe in MetaTrader 5. Gold, forex pairs, indices, crypto.

Main settings

• Reversal size (× ATR) — smaller values give more channels, larger values give only the major swings
• Minimum candles in a channel
• Number of finished channels kept on the chart
• Edge: bodies or wicks
• Price source for the regression line and volume weighting
• Breakout: number of closes needed to confirm, ray length
• Colours and line width
• Popup and push alerts

Good to know: the channel of the swing in progress is recalculated as new candles form; finished channels are fixed once the reversal is confirmed. ATC is a visual analysis tool for manual traders. It does not open or close trades.
