Cant seem to get it working, I set in the default settings and put the robot in a losing position chart, what else should I do? Thanks.

if the losing positions were opened through an EA, then you can set the Order Recovery EA's magic number to be the same as that of the open positions. If the positions were opened manually outside the EA's manual trading panel then it is not possible to recover them because they do not have a magic number.

So, If I open a position on the manual trading panel, the magic numer on the EA should be the number of the ticket and the rest of the settings should be set to default? Sorry I am bit confused, I have gone through the quick guide but can get it working.

You should open manual positions through the manual trading panel of the EA. To work solely using manual trades set the "Input mode" (top input) to "Manual Trades". Make sure to enable order recovery and input the settings you want.
I am attaching a .set file with some simple settings as a rough guide.

2018.03.06 01:46:25.933 TSO Order Recovery MT5 (EURUSD,M5) The Active Order WAS NOT Selected --- Ticket = 2456206 --- (Function = OrderClass::ModifyActiveOrderByTicket) --- ERROR(4753) = Position not found
The ticket number there was opened and is an open position at this point.
Please advise.

The issue occurred when using the manual panel to buy or sell.
