The Gold Nova – XAUUSD Grid EA
The Gold Nova is a fully automated grid Expert Advisor for Gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 5. It opens a basket on a filtered entry signal, adds grid positions at a fixed price distance if the market moves against it, and closes the whole basket at a take-profit measured from the basket’s average price.
How it works
- Entry: a price-action signal confirmed by an RSI filter on H1 and an ADX range filter. The ADX filter keeps the EA out of markets that are either dead flat or trending too strongly.
- Grid: if price moves against the basket, positions are added at a fixed step with a lot multiplier. There is no fixed limit on grid levels.
- Exit: all positions in the basket close together at a take-profit from the weighted average price.
- Base lot is locked per basket: the grid ladder stays consistent even if your balance changes while a basket is open.
Risk management
- Lot mode: Fixed Lot, or Lot Per Balance (default 0.01 lot per 20,000 account units).
- DD Control: closes all EA positions when the total floating loss reaches a set % of balance or a fixed amount in account currency.
- Margin Guard: blocks new baskets and grid additions below a minimum margin level.
- Daily profit target: optionally stops new entries, or closes all positions, once the daily target is reached.
Filters
- Built-in news filter: pauses new baskets around high-impact USD news, with separate minutes before and after the event. It uses the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar, so no WebRequest or URL setup is needed. An option can also close all positions when a news pause starts.
- Session hours: set start and stop hours (server time).
- Spread filter: no new baskets when the spread is above your maximum.
- Slippage: maximum slippage control.
- Automatic support: 2-digit and 3-digit gold quotes, and broker order filling mode.
Dashboard
An animated “The Gold Nova” dashboard shows:
- Trading status and the reason for any pause
- Session and news state
- Active grid profile
- Open basket, floating P/L and today’s closed profit
- Spread, balance, equity and margin level
You can drag the panel anywhere on the chart and it remembers its position. It scales automatically on high-DPI screens. The chart switches to The Gold Space colour theme (gold and cyan candles on black).
Requirements
- Symbol: XAUUSD (any broker suffix). Attach to one chart; the EA switches the chart to H1.
- Account:Swap Free Cent ECN raw spread (Low Spread) hedging account (netting is not supported).
- Recommended: low-spread account, 1:2000 leverage or higher, and a VPS for 24/5 running.
- Cent accounts are recommended for small balances.
Important notes
- The news filter only works live and on demo. The MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester has no economic calendar, so backtests run without the news filter.
- DD Control and Margin Guard are off by default. Without them, the grid has no stop: a long one-way move can produce a large drawdown or a margin call. Decide your limits before going live.
