WHY GOLD. WHY SESSIONS.

XAUUSD is the most momentum-driven instrument in retail trading. When it moves, it moves hard — 150, 300, sometimes 1,000+ pip runs in a single session. The problem most traders face is not identifying the direction — it is being positioned before the move begins, with a stop tight enough to survive the noise and a management system disciplined enough to hold through the full run.

Aurum solves all three.

Every trading day, the EA calculates the dominant structural breakout levels using a proprietary structural level calculation refined over years of live testing. It places two pending orders — one above resistance, one below support — before the London open. Whichever level gold chooses to break, Aurum is already waiting.

DUAL SESSION ARCHITECTURE

Most breakout systems trade once a day. Aurum trades twice — capturing both the London and the New York session breakout, the two highest-liquidity windows in the gold market.

Each session runs completely independently with its own optimised parameters. The New York entry uses a real-time intraday Donchian calculation, adapting to what gold has already done that day. If a London trade is already running, the NY session stands down — no doubling exposure, no overlap. Clean, disciplined, institutional.

THE MANAGEMENT ENGINE

Getting into a trade is easy. Staying in — and extracting maximum value — is where most systems fail. Aurum's trade management is where 12 years of experience is most visible:

Staged Trailing Stop — Three distinct phases of trail tightening as profit grows. Early phase keeps the stop wide enough to survive gold's characteristic. Later phases lock in aggressively as the move extends, ensuring large runs are captured rather than surrendered.

Two-Tier Partial Close — Early profit-taking threshold, 50% of the position is closed and profit is banked. The stop is simultaneously moved to breakeven plus a noise-adjusted buffer. The remaining 50% is a free ride. At extended profit threshold, a second partial locks in another 25%. The surviving runner is then managed by the trailing stop alone — which on the biggest gold days can follow a move for 800, 1,000, even 1,500+ pips.

Additional Trade System — When gold shows exceptional momentum (defined by a proprietary threshold), a second position is opened in the direction of the move to compound the gain. This system contributed significant portion in backtesting. It has its own independent risk management and stop logic.

ATR Quality Filter — On low-volatility days when gold is ranging tightly, the EA simply stays flat. No entries, no risk. Only trades that meet the minimum volatility threshold are taken. This single filter dramatically improves the win rate by eliminating the worst market conditions.

Hard Stop-Loss on Every Trade — Every single position has a stop-loss placed before it triggers. There are no exceptions, no manual overrides, no discretionary holds. Your capital is always protected.

Time-Based Expiry — Any unfilled pending orders are automatically cancelled by end of the trading day. The EA never holds exposure overnight into illiquid Asian hours unless a trade is already running profitably.

BOOTSTRAP GROWTH MODE

For traders starting with smaller accounts, Aurum includes a Bootstrap Phase — a higher-risk growth mode that accelerates compounding during the early account-building phase. Once your balance reaches a configurable target (default $2,000), the system automatically transitions to conservative normal-phase risk. This allows a $100 account to grow aggressively while protecting larger balances with steady, measured risk.
