News widens the spread. Kairos waits until it is back.
One chart guards the whole terminal: a lock before a release, and it only lifts when the live spread has returned to normal, not when a timer runs out.
✅ One chart for every symbol and every EA ✅ Waits for the market, not the clock ✅ Position size 100% → 50% → 0% instead of only on/off ✅ Anomaly detection without a calendar event ✅ Broker rollover and triple-swap warning ✅ Never opens a trade ✅ 100% native MQL5, no DLLs, no web requests

Why Kairos
Most news filters look at the clock. They block trading for a fixed number of minutes and then open again blindly, often exactly when the spread after the release is at its widest. And they usually protect only the chart they sit on.
Kairos works the other way. One instance on one chart becomes the news and liquidity authority for the whole terminal. It knows every release in the MetaTrader 5 economic calendar, learns the normal spread of each symbol for every hour of the week, and keeps a lock until the spread has been back to normal for 20 seconds in a row. Every EA on the account can follow it.
1. Waits for the market, not the clock
- Pre-buffer before a high-impact release (2 minutes by default, up to 5 when the spread already starts to widen)
- Blackout from the release to the minimum window after it
- Spread lock after that, until the live spread is at or below 1.3× its normal level for 20 seconds; a maximum lock time (15 minutes by default) stops a lock from hanging when a broker keeps the spread wide
- Caution for medium-impact news: trading goes on at a smaller position size (50% by default)
- Releases close together are merged into one window; speeches get a longer window
2. One chart for the whole terminal
Kairos publishes a state for every currency and every symbol in Market Watch and your open trades: Safe, Caution, Pre-buffer, Blackout, Spread lock or Anomaly, with the reason, the position size and the seconds to go. A symbol follows its currencies (EURUSD follows EUR and USD; indices, metals and energy follow the currency they are priced in) and its own live spread.
3. Anomaly detection
Calendars miss things: a surprise statement, a flash crash, a feed problem. When the spread and the tick rate of a symbol both jump far above normal without a known event, or the spread alone stays at 6× normal for 3 seconds in a thin market, Kairos locks that symbol, and its currency when several symbols show it. The daily rollover and the weekly open are excluded, because spreads always widen there.
4. Broker rollover and swap
- Optional: warn, trade smaller or lock new entries around the daily rollover (off by default)
- The rollover minute from your setting, a line for your broker, built-in measured times for Pepperstone, Fusion Markets, IC Markets and Naga Markets, the daily break in your broker's trading sessions, or server midnight; the panel shows which
- The triple-swap night of every symbol straight from MetaTrader (Wednesday for most currency pairs, often Friday for indices), with a warning before it and the estimated swap of your open positions
5. Orders and positions: your choice
By default Kairos only warns. You can let it cancel pending orders before a lock (a stop order that fills in the release gets the worst slippage), close positions just before the window, or close new entries that an EA without Kairos opens during a lock. Limit every action to manual trades, to the magic numbers you list, or to all except those.
6. Your own events
Type a news moment on the Calendar tab (for example today 16:00 EUR High ECB press conference), or drop CSV or JSON files from your own news source into a folder. Kairos never connects to the internet: you download the file, Kairos reads it.
7. Monitor only, reports and proof
- Monitor only: Kairos computes and logs everything but blocks nothing. Run it for a week to see what it would have done
- Weekly HTML report of what was locked and why
- Recording of every high-impact release: the state and spread of each affected symbol per second, and a picture of the chart every 30 seconds, from 10 minutes before to 30 minutes after
- Prop firm window: your firm's news window as a minimum; Kairos may lock longer, never shorter
8. One clear panel
- Overview with the market state, position size, next lock and a thermometer per symbol or currency
- Calendar, Spreads (live spread against normal for every symbol, with a 10-minute chart), Clients, Settings, Log and Help tabs
- Filter by asset class: Forex, Indices, Metals, Energy, Commodities, Stocks, Crypto, Bonds
- Every setting on the panel, with an explanation on hover; three profiles (Balanced, Conservative, Scalper) as a starting point
- Seven themes, a window you can move, resize and minimise
For EA developers
Kairos writes its states into terminal global variables (Kairos.<currency>.State, .Scale, .Reason, .Clear, and the same per symbol, with a heartbeat). Any EA in the terminal can read them before an entry; the user guide lists every value. If Kairos stops, the heartbeat stops and your EA can treat the market as closed.
Works well with DayLock, EA Sentinel, Pentad, Panoptic and ChronoReplay
Kairos guards the moment: news, spread spikes and the rollover. DayLock guards the account against your prop firm's daily and max loss. EA Sentinel Guard Pro scores and guards every robot on the account. Pentad Multi Strategy EA and Panoptic Market Dashboard trade and read the markets, and ChronoReplay lets you practise on history. Separate products; each works on its own.
Up and running in three steps
- Drag Kairos Guard Pro onto one chart and switch on Algo Trading. One copy per terminal is enough; a second copy refuses to start.
- Open the Settings tab: pick a profile (Balanced suits most traders) and press Apply. Kairos starts with the symbols in Market Watch and your open trades.
- Run a week in Monitor only if you like, then switch protection on. Your EAs read the state before every entry.

Good to know
- Kairos protects only while MetaTrader runs. A VPS is best when you hold trades while you are away.
- Your EAs follow Kairos only when they read its state. EAs that do not read it can be covered by the opt-in action that closes new entries during a lock.
- The economic calendar is not available in the Strategy Tester; the panel works there, live calendar data does not.
- The normal spread is learned from your broker's history and live prices; in the first minutes a new symbol is shown as "learning".
- Rollover times and prop-firm rules change. Check them with your broker and your firm; you stay responsible for them.
Important
Kairos Guard Pro is a risk-management tool. It makes the dangerous window around news smaller; no tool removes slippage or gaps, and it is not investment advice. Trading leveraged products carries a high risk of losing money. Questions are answered in the comments and private messages on this site.
