Break Zone Pro: Range Breakout Expert Advisor

Break Zone Pro is a time-based range breakout EA for MetaTrader 5. Every day it measures the high and low of a time window you choose, for example the quiet Asian session. After the window closes, it places pending orders just beyond the range to catch the breakout. Risk is controlled with percentage-based sizing and a stop loss tied to the range.

How it works

1. The EA measures the highest high and lowest low between your chosen Range Start and Range End times (server time).
2. After the range ends, it places a Buy Stop above the range high and a Sell Stop below the range low. If price has already broken out, it enters at market.
3. Stop loss and take profit are calculated from the range size or from fixed points.
4. At the times you set, it deletes unfilled pending orders and closes open positions.

The range is drawn on the chart so you can see exactly what the EA is trading.

Key features

• Flexible range window. Set start and end time by hour and minute. Ranges that cross midnight are supported.
• Choice of range timeframe. The default is M1 for precise highs and lows.
• Three position-sizing modes:
  • Managed: risk a percentage of balance or a fixed money amount per trade.
  • Fixed: a constant lot size.
  • Money-based: lots scale with account balance.
• Stop loss and take profit. Each can be off, a multiple of the range size, or a fixed number of points.
• Order buffer. Add extra points between the range edge and the entry price.
• Range filter. Skip days when the range is too small or too large, by points or percent.
• Break-even and trailing stop. Optional, in points, with a trigger level and step.
• Trade limits. Set the maximum long, short and total trades.
• Daily clean-up. Pending orders are deleted and positions closed at your chosen times.
• Built-in protections. The EA checks free margin before sending an order and respects the broker's minimum stop distance. Lot size is reduced automatically if the account can't afford the calculated size.
• Works on any symbol with a trading session structure, such as forex pairs, gold and indices. Run it on one chart per symbol.

Recommended setup

• Symbols: major forex pairs, XAUUSD and major indices.
• Chart timeframe: any. The range is calculated on the timeframe selected in the inputs.
• Account type: hedging or netting.
• Minimum deposit: depends on symbol and broker. For gold and indices, use a larger deposit or a lower risk percentage.
• Broker: a low-spread or ECN account is recommended.
• VPS: recommended for continuous operation.
• Important: set the range times in your broker's server time. Check the server time in Market Watch before you start.
