Did you do the proper Fund & Risk management. According to me without Risk/Fund management every Strategy will be failed either in Manual or EA based Trading.

Depend on your capital. Most successful Ea are very expensive to buy. So, I wouldn't advise you to depend on EA for trading. Get a solid indicator that acts as an EA.

As a developer, I agree with you. Because there is no robot which always win. You must trade carefully and close robots or select direction of market sometimes. Also Indicators shows only historical datas, I don't trust them.
