What are Fibonacci numbers?

The Fibonacci numbers are a sequence where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. The sequence starts from 0 and 1, and then continues endlessly (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 ...). At the same time, the ratio of two consecutive numbers tends to the golden ratio, which is 1.618.

The Fibonacci numbers can be observed in laws of nature and are widely applied in geometry, architecture, art, and other aspects of human beings’ existence. Trading, being one of these aspects, also stepped in. As soon as traders noticed that fluctuations of financial asset prices are often similar to the Fibonacci sequence, they started using it for predicting price movements on financial markets. This is how a set of Fibonacci tools for technical analysis appeared in MetaTrader 4.

As of today, there are 5 well-known tools based on the Fibonacci numbers: Arcs, Fan lines, Correction Time zones, and Expansions. Levels that match them are often called support or resistance areas.

Dear Clients and Partners,
We’re pleased to inform you about several updates of the R Trader terminal functionality. Among other things, we’ve improved a search box of trading instruments, boosted the terminal performance, and added new opportunities for creating trading robots in the strategy builder.
1. Time indicator
From now on, when creating a trading strategy, you have an opportunity to set time limits in the strategy parameters. For example, you can create a strategy, which will activate orders during the first hour after the US stock market opening. This rule may be applied both separately and in combination with other conditions specified in the strategy builder.
2. Opening in the next bar
This feature will be useful for creating algorithms based on candlestick patterns. By activating "Trading on the next bar" feature in the running strategy, you will disable calculation of signals on every tick inside the bar.
3. Average spread when testing
You have an opportunity to specify the average spread value when testing your strategy using historic data and, thanks to this, get more accurate results.
4. New templates
A set of standard templates have been expanded: we’ve added several new interesting templates for creation of trading robots using the strategy builder.
In addition to that, we’ve expanded and updated "Umstel Helpdesk" section, where you can find answers to your questions about the builder.

The second estimate of the GDP Growth Rate in the second quarter 2017 showed that the indicator expanded by 0.3% q/q (1.7% y/y) and matched expectations. The components of the report show that despite the overall positive tone, the Household Spending is slowly decreasing. The same can be said about the Business Investment. After Fed President Janet Yellen´s speech in Jackson Hole, markets took the position, that a rate increase in September would be highly likely. Since then, there have been many comments from various regional Fed Governors, offering different opinions, as well as important important economic data. Accordingly, markets rose and fell. Latest comments by the Fed´s Lael Brainhard, caused a surge on Monday. Brainhard warned about prematurely ending expansive monetary policy, whilst suggesting that she would like to see a stronger up move in consumer spending. The US would currently be in recession, if it were not for the consumer. This is why the US employment numbers are of utmost importance to US monetary policy.

#AUDUSD gained after the mixed manufacturing data from top #trading partner China even as local data disappointed. Currently, the pair is at 0.7537, up 0.24%. In China, the #official manufacturing PMI for August came in at 50.4 compared to the 49.9 level seen. The Caixin manufacturing PMI came in at 50, missing the expected 50.1 level seen. Earlier in Australia, the AIG manufacturing index for August came in at 46.9 (the lowest level since June last year), compared with a previous reading of 56.4.

Do you trade #USDCAD? Don't miss the #GDP data in Canada at 12:30 GMT. It is expected that after a reduction of 0.6% in May, in June, the Canadian economy grew by 0.4%. However, the data for the 2nd quarter may show a drop of 1.5%. Also note that the employment data from ADP will be published at 12:15 in the USA, and it is the main reference point ahead of the official statistics. Strong statistics may support the U.S. dollar, but if the data is weaker than the forecast, a retracement may follow.
