Nadaraya Envelope Indicator for MetaTrader 5
We proudly present our Nadaraya Envelope indicator, designed to help you read market structure more clearly, spot overbought and oversold zones, and make more disciplined trading decisions. The indicator uses Nadaraya-Watson kernel regression with a Gaussian kernel to build a smooth curve through price, then draws an upper and a lower envelope around it based on the average deviation of price from that curve. Whether you're a seasoned trader or a beginner, the indicator is easy to install, easy to customize, and easy to read on the chart.
The indicator draws two clean lines directly on your main chart window: a blue upper band and a red lower band. When price pushes outside or toward the bands, it can signal a stretched market that may be ready for a pullback or a reversal. When price stays inside the channel, the market is trading within its normal range. You can use it on its own or combine it with your own strategy, price action, support and resistance, or other indicators.
The indicator works on any symbol and any timeframe in MetaTrader 5: Forex pairs, Gold (XAUUSD), indices, crypto and more. You can use it with any Forex Broker and Prop Trading Firms.
Why Choose the Nadaraya Envelope Indicator?
Smooth Kernel Regression:
Unlike a simple moving average, the Nadaraya-Watson estimator weights every bar with a Gaussian kernel, so the central curve is smoother and follows price more naturally.
Dynamic Envelope:
The upper and lower bands are built from the mean absolute error between price and the regression curve, multiplied by your own multiplier. The channel widens when volatility grows and narrows when the market calms down.
Overbought / Oversold Zones:
Quickly see where price is stretched away from its fair value. Useful for mean-reversion setups, for finding entries on pullbacks, and for choosing take profit and stop loss areas.
Fully Adjustable:
Three simple inputs let you tune the indicator to your style: how many bars to analyze, how smooth the curve should be, and how wide the envelope should be.
Clear Visuals:
Thick blue and red lines, labeled "Nadraya Upper" and "Nadraya Lower" in the Data Window, with extra decimal precision for accurate reading.
Lightweight:
Simple, fast and easy to attach to any chart. No complicated setup required.
How to use it:
1. Attach the indicator to any chart in MetaTrader 5 (Navigator > Indicators > drag onto the chart).
2. Set the parameters (or leave the defaults).
3. Watch price in relation to the blue upper band and the red lower band.
- Price near or above the upper band: market may be overextended to the upside.
- Price near or below the lower band: market may be overextended to the downside.
- Confirm with your own analysis, trend direction and risk management before opening a trade.
We recommend testing the indicator on a demo account before using it on a real account.
Parameters:
Length - number of bars used for the calculation (default 500)
Bandwidth - smoothing of the Gaussian kernel; higher value gives a smoother curve, lower value follows price more closely (default 17)
Multiplayer - multiplier of the mean absolute error; controls the width of the upper and lower bands (default 1.5)
Applied price: Weighted price (High + Low + 2 x Close) / 4
Line colors: Upper band - Blue, Lower band - Red
Line width: 2

Important note:
The envelope is recalculated over the most recent bars, so the latest part of the lines can change as new price data arrives. This is normal for kernel regression envelopes. Use the indicator as a decision-support tool together with proper risk management. It is not a guarantee of profit, and past behavior does not guarantee future results. Trading Forex and CFDs involves a high level of risk.
