Installed EA on MT4 but not making any Trades yet, help??

I have installed an ea I bought online and have the smiley face in the corner next to its name however the EA is yet to make any trades. I've tried to troubleshoot online to make sure autotrading is all set up but have had no joy as yet. I'm a beginner to MT4 so hopefully someone with more experience can help me get the EA trading? Thanks
