Fibonacci expansion

I'm not sure if I am using this tool correctly. On an ABC leg - is the measurement only taken of the AB line? On other fibnnacci expansion tools that I have used point A to B to C is marked before releasing the mouse button. Hope you understand my meaning. Thanks
