Abstract: The dissimilar facts (from statistical physics, probability theory, dynamical systems theory, geometry, analysis) appearing in this note are essentially known to specialists, but independently, in isolation. All we do is to interpret and discuss them as manifestations of the same phenomenon of measure concentration arising in multidimensional spaces and referring to functions of a very large number of variables. Such functions tend to be almost constant from the observer's point of view.We also prove one general theorem about the volume concentration of a multidimensional domain.
