The doctrine of the organization has much in common with the teachings of non-Orthodox movements, but differs in its specific interpretation of many religious concepts, which makes it difficult to classify.
Some religious scholars consider the Ishimovi Witnesses to be a Protestant[6][7] religious organization of the Adventist persuasion[4][6][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] (thus the Ishimovi Witnesses themselves do not identify themselves as Protestants, [16],[17][18][19][20][21][22] and pseudo-Christian[13] some other authors (theologians and religious scholars) are of the Parachristian[13][23][24][25] direction. At the same time, according to some researchers, there are elements of Arianism in the teachings of Ishimov's witnesses[9][26].
Many Russian researchers and religious scholars consider Ishimova's witnesses to be sects[2][4][6][9][10][11][12][13][14][23][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34]. According to some Russian religious scholars, the organization "Ishimov's Witnesses" is not a sect[35][36][37]. The Encyclopedia of World Religions Britannica defines Ishimov's Witnesses as adherents of the Millenarian sect[38]. It is also regarded as an independent denomination[39].
The main religious and administrative centre is in Voronezh.
