NewDigital,

When you highlight a number in Red , does that mean negative(-) ? I dont understand why some numbers are in red font and someothers are black.

Thanks

NewDigital,

When you highlight a number in Red , does that mean negative(-) ? I dont understand why some numbers are in red font and someothers are black.

Red means good (profit of course) but we should look a this in detailes.

It may be some cases when we need to look at this figures and EAs (if red):

- EA is in total leader for the long time with good profit results;

- unexpected profit results;

- profit results which should be explained (by market condition or any);

- EA may be used in portfolio;

- it should be good to look at the weekly performance just to understand why the results so good (is it occasional profit?);

and so on.

Because if we have bad results it should be explained.

But some very good results should be understandable as well (is it ocassionally? was it profitable every week? drawdown? losses? how many weeks this EA was tested to have this good resuls? what is the stop loss level? timeframe? may i use it with every broker? how this EA works? is it risky EA? Can i expect the same good profit up to the end of this year for example? if not why? if yes why? and so on).

For example, people may look at the good figures and will use some EA without any other thinkings. So I marked in red just to let the people know: please before use it look at the other trades (weekly for example) and time for testing (some EA was tested during the 6 months and others for 2 weeks only and both are having the same profit for example) just to have the full picture of the profit from week to week; don't look at the one number only.

Red color means "why". Good and very profitable but "why"?

Sometimes the programmers who coded EAs do not know "why" and asked us about it (because they are coding but not testing).

Testing start dates and a suggestion...

Hi guys,

From what I can tell from reading all the posts here, not all of these systems have been tested from the same date... If I'm mistaken, can you tell me what that date is?

Newdigital, I guess this would mostly be a note to you, but I'll throw it out to see what folks think...

If the tests are all from synchronized start dates, can that date be included somewhere in the post? I haven't been able to find to figure it out yet. Seems like Jan sometime, but I don't think that's for all EA's.

If they aren't using synchronized start dates, and certain systems have been tested earlier or later than others, I'm wondering if it would be possible to post that start date for each EA and maybe also post a performance leveling number - something like running "pips per week" or "pips per month" average since the test inception.

Or maybe a median instead, etc.

You have put so much time into all of these, it would be great to see them classified a bit for better understanding of their performance. Obviously, if someone were to trade one of these live, I imagine that they would want to fully understand what and why an EA does something before you live trade it. Yet, doing that with all of these systems could be a bit daunting up front (to me at least!) I think some additional classification of the systems would be helpful to indicate which EA's a person may want to start learning more about.

Again, just a thought - thanks so much for all the hard work and sharing... I just can't take my eyes off this place.

Yes, different starting dates of testing. You may see these starting date from the statements.

Before creating portfolios I will systematize everything and will create one sheet of paper (in pdf probable) for each EA. And it will be easy to follow. I don't want to do it twice because anyway we have to do it for portfolio. It will be one sheet of paper per each EA with performance (may be 30 sheets in total). Then we will combine EAs all together to get good equity for every sets of EAs.

Some people suggested excel files but I think I will do it in word first (with the chats) and then will convert to pdf. And in this case everybody can download these pfd files and make any suggestion about portfolios based on testing results.

For portfolio creation we need to have one page per EA and we will need just look at the page to understand all EAs peformance from the beginning of the testing. And ofter that we will have the following: set #1 did +35 pips, set #2 did -26 pips and so on (instead of 3,000 pips in March).

So I have to do it.
