LIVE SIGNAL: https://www.mql5.com/en/signals/2398196 - a real account running this EA at the default risk (0.01 lot per $1,000). Tom Rider Gold is a fully automated Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD) on MetaTrader 5. It combines five independent entry strategies with one shared basket manager. Only one basket is open at any time, so the strategies never stack risk on top of each other. HOW IT WORKS Each strategy waits for its own setup. When a setup appears, the EA opens a basket. If price moves against the basket, the EA adds grid positions at ATR-based distances that widen as the basket grows. Every grid position uses the same lot - there is no martingale lot multiplication. The whole basket closes at one common profit target. When a basket is held over the daily rollover, the target also recovers the swap the basket has paid. THE FIVE STRATEGIES • S01 Night Momentum (BUY) - momentum entries around the daily close • S02 Evening Momentum (BUY) - momentum entries in the evening session • S03 Pullback (BUY / SELL) - with-trend entries after a short pullback • S04 Dip Buyer (BUY) - buys short-term oversold dips • S05 Trend Thrust (BUY / SELL) - follows strong intraday thrusts in the direction of the daily trend Each strategy can be switched on or off. The trade direction setting allows BUY and SELL baskets, BUY only or SELL only. BUILT-IN PROTECTION • One basket at a time across all five strategies • Entry guards that skip new baskets after very fast moves, volatility shocks and falling-knife conditions • Spread filter for new baskets and for grid additions • Margin protection: no new grid level when the margin level would fall below 200%; open baskets are closed before a broker stop out if the margin level falls below 120% (never reached in our backtests at 1:100 leverage or more) • No new baskets late on Friday; the intraday strategies (S03-S05) also pause over the year-end holidays • Optional drawdown protection: a limit in % of balance or in money, with three actions - close all and continue, close all and remove the EA, or alert only • Pause switch: set the terminal global variable TomRiderGold_PAUSE to 1 to stop new baskets while open baskets are still managed BACKTEST RESULTS (default inputs, $1,000 start) 2025 (1 Jan - 31 Dec, Dukascopy real ticks): net profit +$5,432, profit factor 4.34, maximum equity drawdown 23.7%, 890 trades, 511 baskets, all closed in profit. 2026 (1 Jan - 31 Oct, real broker ticks): net profit +$241,314, profit factor 5.41, maximum equity drawdown 23.0%, 1,202 trades, 698 baskets, all closed in profit. Test model: every tick based on real ticks, 300 ms execution delay, commission $1.50 per lot per side, leverage 1:500. The default lot is 0.01 per $1,000 of balance, so the lot grows with the balance and the profit compounds. Past results do not guarantee future results. RECOMMENDED SETTINGS Risk is set with one number: 0.01 lot per $X of balance (Risk group). Backtest with a $10,000 start (maximum equity drawdown 2025 / 2026): • 0.01 per $1,000 (default, aggressive): 27.7% / 22.9% • 0.01 per $1,500: 18.0% / 15.2% • 0.01 per $2,000 (balanced): 14.0% / 11.4% • 0.01 per $3,000 (conservative): 8.1% / 7.6% • 0.01 per $5,000 (low): 4.6% / 4.5% Our recommendation: • Most accounts: 0.01 lot per $2,000 (balanced). • Default 0.01 per $1,000: only if a drawdown of about 25% is acceptable to you. • Capital preservation: 0.01 per $3,000 - $5,000. • Leverage: 1:200 or higher; 1:100 minimum at the default risk. With 1:30 - 1:50 use 0.01 lot per $2,000 or more. • Drawdown protection (optional): set the limit about 1.5 - 2 times above the maximum drawdown of your risk level. When the balance is below half of X, the 0.01-step lot would round to zero; the EA then trades the minimum lot 0.01 - a higher risk than set - and the panel shows MIN LOT. Example: $1,000 with 0.01 per $3,000. ON-CHART PANEL AND THEMES The panel shows the EA status, each strategy (READY, STANDBY, IN TRADE, OFF), the open basket with its average price and target, closed profit for today, this week and this month, and the account figures. Choose one of three themes for the panel and the chart: Gold Dark, Midnight Blue or Light. The chart theme sets the background and candle colours and removes the grid; the chart's own colours come back when the EA is removed. REQUIREMENTS • Symbol: XAUUSD (gold) only - any broker suffix (XAUUSD+, XAUUSD.m, GOLD ...). The strategies and filters are built for gold; do not use other symbols. Any chart timeframe; attach the EA to one chart only. • Account: ECN / raw-spread account recommended. The EA skips new baskets and grid additions while the spread is wide, so a standard account with wide gold spreads trades less. • Hedging account required (the EA does not start on a netting account). • Broker server time: the strategy hours are set for the common GMT+2 / GMT+3 server time (New York close). • Minimum deposit: $1,000 at the default risk; $2,000 or more for the balanced setting. • Leverage: 1:100 or higher (see Recommended settings). • A VPS for uninterrupted 24/5 operation. • Open baskets can be held over the weekend. GETTING STARTED 1. Check the server time in Market Watch: GMT+2 in winter, GMT+3 in summer. 2. Attach Tom Rider Gold to one XAUUSD chart (any timeframe). 3. Switch Algo Trading on and allow algo trading in the EA settings. 4. Set your risk in the Risk group (0.01 lot per $X) - see Recommended settings. 5. Run it on a VPS. To stop new baskets without removing the EA, create the global variable TomRiderGold_PAUSE = 1 (F3); open baskets are still managed. Backtest it yourself with "Every tick based on real ticks" on a hedging account; small differences to the figures above are normal (broker ticks, spread, commission, swap). RISK WARNING Tom Rider Gold is a grid system. Baskets have no stop loss by default and a basket can stay open through a long move against it, so the floating drawdown can be large. In the backtests above the maximum equity drawdown at the default risk was 23.0% - 23.7%. Use money you can afford to lose, test on a demo account first and consider the optional drawdown protection. Trading gold on margin carries a high level of risk. |
