Currency Velocity Matrix
- Indicators
- Version: 1.0
- Activations: 5
Currency Velocity Matrix shows the strength of the 8 major currencies (EUR, GBP, AUD, NZD, USD, CAD, CHF, JPY), calculated from all 28 pairs. It also shows the rate of change: which currency is gaining strength the fastest and which one is losing it the fastest.
Knowing which currency is strong is not enough. A strong currency may already be losing momentum. The best opportunities usually appear when the currency gaining strength the fastest meets the currency losing strength the fastest. The suite finds these diverging pairs, marks them BUY or SELL and alerts you when a new one appears.
■ How strength is calculated (fully transparent)
- For every pair: where is the close inside its high / low range of the last N bars (default 120)? 0 % = at the low, 100 % = at the high.
- The base currency gets that value and the quote currency gets the rest.
- Currency strength = 10 x the average over its 7 pairs, from 0 (weak) to 10 (strong), smoothed.
- Rate of change = strength now minus strength N bars ago (default 5), smoothed. It is shown as a bar graph with levels from 1 to 10.
- Diverging pair = base and quote currencies move in opposite directions and both reach the minimum change level (default 5).
- TREND = the strength order already agrees with the move. EARLY = the move runs against the current strength order, which often marks the early turn of a new move.
The values are calculated on closed bars and the live bar (optional). History bars do not repaint.
■ Full chart suite (default)
- Header – timeframe tabs M5 to D1. One click recalculates the whole suite on that timeframe, and the chart itself does not change.
- Currency strength – 8 animated bars with live value, change level and today's %
- Strength lines – the last 100 bars of all 8 currencies with signal ticks. Hover any bar to see the values at that time.
- Strength radar – the strength shape plus the rate-of-change spokes
- Best trade now – the fastest diverging pair with BUY / SELL, SIGNAL / WATCH, TREND / EARLY and a divergence gauge, plus the strongest classic trends (largest strength gaps)
- Rate of change – who is gaining or losing strength the fastest, with the signal level marked
- Signals – pairs diverging now (or the closest candidates as WATCH), plus a signal log from the history
- Pair matrix 8 x 8 – the strength gap of every combination. Diverging pairs pulse.
- Multi-timeframe matrix – M15, H1, H4 and D1 by default (up to 6 timeframes), with an average ranking
- Today and sessions – % change of every currency since the daily open, plus a Sydney / Tokyo / London / New York session map with a live time marker
- Ticker tape with all 28 pairs, bid price and today's %
■ Compact panel
Prefer to see your candles? One click on COMPACT switches to a movable panel with strength, rate of change, diverging pairs, strength lines and the multi-timeframe matrix. You can drag it anywhere on the chart or close it to a small pill.
■ Interactive
- Click a currency to highlight it in all graphs
- Click a pair (best trade, signals, log, matrix, trends) to open it in this chart or in a new chart (input)
- Hover anything to see what it means and the exact values
- Position, mode, timeframe and focus are remembered per chart
■ Alerts
Popup, sound, push notification and e-mail when a new pair starts to diverge, with a cool-down per pair (default 60 minutes).
■ Works with every broker
- Symbol prefix and suffix are detected automatically (for example EURUSD.r, mEURUSD, EURUSDc). You can also set them yourself.
- If a pair is missing from the main symbol group, the same pair is taken from another symbol group of your broker.
- Data check: with fewer than 21 pairs, or fewer than 5 pairs for one currency, the suite shows INCOMPLETE DATA and pauses signals and alerts instead of showing distorted strength.
■ Main inputs
| Calculation | timeframe (current = chart), strength range in bars, strength smoothing, rate of change period and smoothing, strength points per bar, include the live bar, refresh interval |
| Signals | minimum change level (1-10) of both currencies |
| Symbols | automatic prefix / suffix detection, manual prefix / suffix |
| Display | full suite or compact panel, sort bars, line chart bars, strength lines, multi-timeframe matrix and its timeframes, number of diverging pairs, click action, start position, tooltips |
| Alerts | popup, sound, push, e-mail, cool-down in minutes |
■ Notes
- MetaTrader 5 indicator for the main chart window. It works on any chart and symbol, including gold, indices and crypto charts, because the strength always comes from the 28 forex pairs.
- The first start loads the history of all 28 pairs. Depending on your broker, this can take a few seconds.
- In the Strategy Tester, the suite runs on the history of the 28 pairs. Clicking a pair does not switch charts there.
- This indicator does not trade. It is an analysis tool and does not guarantee profits.
