MT5 Lot Size greater then 100

How can I place a trade for a lot size of greater than 100. It seems that by default I am only able to enter a max of 100 into the trade button

Some brokers have a max lot size of 100, others 200 and some more.

If your broker's max lot size is 100, there isn't anything that you can do, except of opening 2 orders simultaneously.

My broker says that the max is 1000 lots but I cannot type anything greater than 100 in the MT5 terminal, however in my old MT4 terminal it works to go higher than 100.

My broker's max lot size is 200 lots and I can write 200 lots in the New Order window, if I write something greater than 200 the buy and sell buttons become inactive.

So, there isn't a problem of MT4/5 terminal, since I've got the latest version.

Contact your broker about it, even though it would be best to wait until the markets open.

I spoke with my broker and they said that the Max Lot size on MT5 is 100

Is that the same as you?

Hi

You need to open multi orders.

Hi

You need to open multi orders.

Hello, thank you. What are multi orders and how to I open them?

You trade that big? Is the execution on your broker the same with executing 1 or 10 lot?

That was an example.

Multiple orders. One after the other.

  2. Risk depends on your initial stop loss, lot size, and the value of the symbol. It does not depend on margin and leverage. No SL means you have infinite risk (on leveraged symbols). Never risk more than a small percentage of your trading funds, certainly less than 2% per trade, 6% total.

    1. You place the stop where it needs to be — where the reason for the trade is no longer valid. E.g. trading a support bounce, the stop goes below the support.

    2. AccountBalance * percent/100 = RISK = OrderLots * (|OrderOpenPrice - OrderStopLoss| * DeltaPerLot + CommissionPerLot) (Note OOP-OSL includes the spread, and DeltaPerLot is usually around $10/PIP, but it takes account of the exchange rates of the pair vs. your account currency.)

    3. Do NOT use TickValue by itself - DeltaPerLot and verify that MODE_TICKVALUE is returning a value in your deposit currency, as promised by the documentation, or whether it is returning a value in the instrument's base currency.

    4. You must normalize lots properly and check against min and max.

    5. You must also check Free Margin to avoid stop out

    6. For MT5, see 'Money Fixed Risk' - MQL5 Code Base (2017)

Most pairs are worth about $10 per PIP. A $5 risk with a (very small) 5 PIP SL is $5/$10/5 or 0.1 Lots maximum.
