Less curve-fitting risk compared to building something completely new.
Compounding small improvements (edge enhancement) often beats searching for a "holy grail".
Examples of good modifications:
Adding filters (e.g., ADX for trend strength, session filter, volatility filter)
Improving entry timing
Better exit rules (trailing stop, partial profit taking)
Risk management upgrades
Adapting parameters for current market regime (trending vs ranging)
2. Why Most Traders Still Create New Strategies
Even when they have something decent, many still jump to new ones because of:
Boredom & Dopamine: Trading the same thing for months feels boring. New strategy = excitement.
Over-Optimization Trap: After some losing period, they think “this strategy is dead” instead of adapting it.
Looking for Perfection: They want a strategy that works in all market conditions (which almost never exists).
Influencer Effect: Constant exposure to new shiny indicators and systems on YouTube/Telegram.
Lack of Discipline: Easier to abandon a strategy than to deeply analyze and fix it.
Market Regime Changes: Sometimes a strategy really does stop working well for a long time (e.g. MA crossover in strong ranging markets).

Best approach for most serious traders:
Master 1–2 core strategies deeply.
Treat them like a business — continuously improve them rather than replace.
Only create or test a completely new strategy when:
Your current one has clear structural flaws.
Market conditions have fundamentally changed (e.g. from trending to low volatility).
You have solid statistical proof that the new idea has an edge.
