Recently, XAUUSD (gold) was mostly stuck in a range, forming clear highs and lows. Volatility picked up when news hit, but a lot of the time price was just moving sideways. Breakouts finally happened after price stayed trapped for a while. This is an ideal setup for Darvas Box breakout strategies like mine.
My EA checks for strong breakouts above the box high and below the box low, but it also uses the ATR to add a buffer so it doesn't jump into every move. If the market goes flat and a trade starts losing, the EA closes it out before taking a big loss—that's the stagnation filter.
