I have a long term background with Banking.

The talk around this site says," trade like professionals or bankers or institutions" .

Yet traders and signal providers seem to have little to no idea how to trade.

The past week I have seen several providers taken off the list or either not allowed new subscribers by MQL4. Many accounts have been drained dry of not only the traders funds but also the subscribers funds too.

Probably millions have been lost this past week.

Thus far, I have only found a couple of Signal Providers that DO trade as professionals.

This coming week should be slow with May Day and banking holidays. It is ok to sit out a few trades this next week because it is going to be difficult to find good trades.

You've noticed that too huh? And I thought I was the only one feeling frustrated at the lack of professional traders. One successful trader encourages a hundred wannabe professionals (me included).

I guess this is just an unfortunate fact: Millionaire traders are highly unlikely to be sharing their secrets online, let alone at cost (or free) on MQL5.

Slippage is not what needs to be watched when selecting a broker.

Every place in the world that you will trade will have slippage. The price is always moving and it will be impossible NOT to have slippage.
What is more important is the spread. The spread can kill a trade.

I do not understand why traders do not know this and still open accounts with huge spreads. They say but I dont have to pay a fee. But the money lost on the spread is several times more than if you just paid a commission or a fee.

Let me explain, it is better to have a zero to .03 spread and pay a commission than to pay NO commission and have a wide spread. If a signal provider is closing a position after a small profit and you have a large spread, then your position could be a loss due to the wide spread.

It is better to know exactly when you can get out with a fixed commission than to not know based on a spread that will change at anytime.

No spread means the broker is not manipulating the prices to make money for himself from the spread.

I have searched the world over and only have found a few brokers that are GREAT brokers.

http://icmarkets.com/?camp=3035 provides great customer service and better yet great fills and ZERO SPREADS !

I would challenge you to look at the spread vs the commissions paid. I will suspect that the money lost on the spread is a lot more than if you would just pay a fee.

A broker that has fixed a spread can manipulate the price your orders are filled with slippage. The spread stays always the same but the price your order is filled is not the one you would like to get. In the end both results do not differ much from each other. Spread, commission and slippage do minimize your profit all together. So what you need is a broker that gives you good conditions in all of those three aspects in sum. Being good in terms of spread and bad with commission does neutralize in sum. But thank you for the affiliate link anyway. No offense to you, but I get a lot of recommendation from you in the nearer past.

Absolutely agree with Deevog, slippage is hugely important when market is moving fast. my experience has shown that having a same-building-as-exchange optic fibre connected VPS with lots of RAM and quad processors is essential to avoid slippage as well. And yes Frank, it is starting to look like you are peddling a broker for your own profit. Also check real accounts slippage on MQL5 and you will see that Pepperstone is way ahead of ICmarkets on slippage.

The best trader on MQL4 site that is trading like a pro and not just randomly making trades is being criticized for not trading?

Is there anyone who knows anything about trading? If you do, then you would know that this week NO ONE should have traded at all.

Several accounts got blown up this past week and traders lost their money.

But Candle Light knew exactly what to do.... nothing. This guy is a pro and we should be thankful that he is offering his services.

GREAT JOB. Continue to do what you are doing now.

@Olivier: I agree there is much action this week. But I also agree that trend directions have not necessarily been clear. It depends on the strategy employed - CandleLight has a different strategy to you.

PS. Do you SERIOUSLY trade that chart (image you provided)? Very cluttered with indicators...

@matthew I do use that chart I like to have all on one page. I don t know if you ever used renko, but the boxes take a long time to form. I have special auto sizing boxes, so I need to look at something as they form. hence the so called clutter, but it is very clear to me

There are so many novice traders out there.

My suggestion ......... EDUCATE YOURSELF. That is the key to trading. The more you read the more chances you have of making money.

I have been roaming around this site and looking at the different signals and making a few evaluations.

I found signal that seems to be ran like a Institutional Trader. I am really impressed with him. But he will not disclosing his methods which leads me to believe that he is utilizing the same methods as a Institution or a Bank.

The only obvious thing that I see that he does, is not to set a hard stop loss but monitors the trade live. If a stop loss needs to be used then he is ready to do so based on current trading. Guess who else trades like this .... yep.

Deevog, under such extreme scenarios, a SL is useless due to slippage. Folks got slipped with SL so bad they still owed money to their brokers. SL is no 100% guarantee that you will be protected. There can often be a disconnect between a SL with a broker, and the actual price provided by the liquidity provider.

@Olivier: Agreed. SL is a common method used by brokers (market makers/DD) and liquidity providers to boost their profits. Using smart-hedging techniques you can ride out the drawdown and close the trades in less of a loss in future. That is beyond my intelligence level though...
