MT5 EA – Bollinger Bands Re-Entry Strategy with ATR Risk Management

Trading Strategy

Symbol: EURUSD (configurable)
Timeframe: M15 (configurable)

Buy Conditions:

• Candle 2 closes below the lower Bollinger Band.

• Candle 1 closes back above the lower Bollinger Band.

• Enter BUY at the first available tick of the next candle.

Sell Conditions:

• Candle 2 closes above the upper Bollinger Band.

• Candle 1 closes back below the upper Bollinger Band.

• Enter SELL at the first available tick of the next candle.

Bollinger Bands settings: Period 20, Deviation 2.0 (configurable).

Risk Management

• ATR period: 14.

• Stop Loss: 1.5 × ATR measured at the signal candle close.

• Take Profit: 2 × the initial SL distance.

• Fixed lot: 0.01 by default (configurable).

• Maximum spread: 25 points (configurable). Skip the signal if the spread is too high at the entry tick.

• Maximum one open position per symbol and Magic Number.

• Maximum two entries per trading day.

• No martingale, grid or averaging.

Additional Requirements

• Use completed candles only. No repainting or duplicate entries.

• The EA must not repeat an already processed signal after MT5 or VPS restart.

• Handle invalid lot sizes, stop levels and broker restrictions safely.

• Include clear execution logs.

• Provide the complete MQ5 source, compiled EX5 and a short installation guide.

• Test the EA in the MT5 Strategy Tester and provide basic functional test evidence.

1. How would you ensure ATR-based SL/TP remains consistent after a trade opens, especially if volatility changes?

2. Do you see any potential technical concerns or simple improvements that could make this strategy more reliable without adding unnecessary complexity?
