Assuming Greece’s list of financial concessions (due by the end of today) gets approved, last week's relentless onslaught of headlines around Greece should begin to subside for a while now, with Friday's deal staving off near term crisis and kicking the can down the road for a few months by way of an extension. Tsipras' speech on Saturday appeared to take bows for the striking of the deal, even though Syriza is the side that made all the concessions, while the Eurogroup gave up basically nothing. Although Greece obviously remains a major issue, the day to day focus of the market should be more balanced now, and Yellen's testimony later this week will be the most significant event of the week as the market looks for more clarity around Fed policy after the more dovish-sounding minutes released last week. There is also a fair amount of German data this week, which is worth watching after their better than expected GDP release two weeks ago. Today, the main data points in focus will be German IFO and US existing home sales. I have not held a position in the Euro for over a week now, and while I do not necessarily expect that to change immediately, my current lean is more on the bearish side. I feel there is a reasonable chance Yellen somewhat counters the dovish sense the minutes gave the market given that recent "international developments" have been more on the positive side and that US job growth looks very solid. Furthermore, positioning in Euro has to be a good bit lighter than it was a few weeks ago. Nonetheless, if Germany releases a slew of good data this week, that rebound story will gain traction and the Euro will struggle to be an underperformer in a broad USD rally, so as mentioned earlier it is worthwhile to keep an eye on these numbers. 1.1620/50 is the optimal sell zone if we continue to rally, and on the downside 1.1220/50 needs to break cleanly for there to be any indication of sustainable momentum to the downside. So we remain very much "nowhere" at the moment, but it can only remain this way for so long. I will trade tactically for now with a bearish bias.
