Why Most Expert Advisors Fail Before They Ever Place Their Second Trade
For years I've watched traders evaluate Expert Advisors, and I've noticed something interesting.
The EA opens its very first trade.
Within minutes, one of these things happens.
The trader closes the position manually.
They immediately change the settings.
They switch the timeframe.
They disable AutoTrading.
Or they remove the EA completely.
Then comes the verdict.
"The EA doesn't work."
But does that really mean the EA failed?
Or did the trader interrupt the strategy before it had a chance to execute the very logic it was designed for?
Every Expert Advisor follows a sequence.
Market analysis.
Trade entry.
Risk management.
Trade management.
Exit conditions.
When that sequence is interrupted, the outcome no longer reflects the system.
Imagine judging a pilot after only the takeoff.
Or reviewing a book after reading the first page.
Automated trading deserves the same patience.
I'm interested in hearing from both traders and developers.
What do you believe causes traders to abandon an EA too early?
