Updates in Rules to improve Market products

From July 1, 2021, we introduce additional requirements for products offered via the Market. Dozens of new applications are published in the Market every day. However, many sellers do not think about how their products appear to users and how customers feel about using their apps. Some descriptions are screaming and gaudy, while applications contain annoying splash screens and irritating messages.

Therefore, we introduce new description and functionality requirements, to make the Market more convenient for buyers.

Intrusive adware

We prohibit intrusive functions in products, including pop-ups and numerous links on charts or panels.

We understand that sellers wish to promote their services, but this should be done in a reasonable manner. You can specify a link to your website in the product description and add #property link to program code — this link will be displayed in a standard dialog during program start. Sellers are not allowed to advertise their websites or other products on charts, in dialog boxes or on graphic panels.

Restricting product functionality under Demo/Free/Trial/Light version is prohibited

According to the Market rules, Products may not contain any operational restrictions which limit application usage (such as time, account, trading symbol and other restrictions). Any paid or free product must not have time limitations and must be fully functional on any trading account.

To protect paid versions, the Market enables the downloading of an Expert Advisor or indicator trial version allowing users to test the product in the Strategy Tester. Such versions cannot be run on live charts. Sellers can additionally provide monitoring results via the Signals service to demonstrate the performance of Expert Advisors.

Some sellers violate the Market rules and create so-called "demo versions" to promote paid products. Such "demo versions" have trading, display or other functional restrictions. As a result, it is difficult for buyers to find truly useful free programs.

Therefore, the following products will be considered as spam:

  • products having words Demo, Free, Trial, Light or similar in their name
  • products displaying a link to another fully functional product of the author in the description or on a chart during operation
  • products with functional restrictions

To demonstrate all features of paid products (including trading panels and analytical applications), sellers can add videos in the description and provide a one-month product rental option for a small fee.

    Market sellers must remove functionality restrictions, fix product names and delete links to other products by August 1, 2021.

    On-site customer support

    MQL5.community offers a variety of options enabling sellers to provide timely and efficient customer support:

    • The built-in chat system supports direct correspondence, as well as group chats and channels. Create groups to provide product support and to publish additional information, set files, and more.
    • The Product Comments section works simultaneously in all languages. If you describe an issue related to product operation and publish a solution in comments, this information will be available to all your customers. You will not need to answer the same question to each client in personal messages. Furthermore, comments include the built-in automatic translation option.

    Make it as easy as possible for your customers to contact you, without using third-party apps. Communicate via the built-in messenger — it is available on the website, in the desktop platform and in the mobile app.

    Please make sure your products comply with the new requirements

    We urge all Market sellers to revise their products by July 1, 2021, and to make relevant changes in accordance with the updated Rules.

    1. The Seller shall not limit Product functionality under separate demo versions. To demonstrate all the features of paid products (including trading panels and analytical applications), Sellers can:
      • add videos in the description;
      • provide a one-month product rental option for a small fee;
      • provide Expert Advisor monitoring results via the "Signals" service.

      The following products will be considered as spam:

      • products having words Demo, Free, Trial, Light or similar in their name;
      • products displaying a link to another fully functional Product in the description or on a chart during operation;
      • products with functional restrictions.

    2. The Product must not:
      • Include links to third-party resources. All necessary information should be provided on the mql5.com website: in the Product description, in comments or in the "Blogs" section.
      • Include links to Telegram-groups or other messengers for Product support. Product support must be provided via the Product comments section or via the mql5.com messaging system which supports group chats and channels.
      • Use intrusive features and ads. In particular:
        • Pop-up windows and alerts containing ads or unnecessary information at the program start;
        • Custom panels with links to third-party resources, broker affiliate links, etc.;
        • Comments on charts and text labels with sponsored links.

    3. Sellers are not recommended to:
      • Use excessive links in Product descriptions. An exception is made for Signal links demonstrating Product monitoring results.
      • Use excessive text styles in Product descriptions:
        • The "Heading" style should only be used for headings. It should not be used for the main text or warnings.
        • Do not use bold for large text blocks. Highlight separate short phrases, if necessary. Make sure the description does not contain too much text in bold.
        • Do not use too many "Warning" blocks.
        • Lists should only be used for clear enumerations. In all other cases use plain text.
        • Do not use long lists. If your Product has a large number of parameters, split them into logical blocks.
        • Do not use special characters, icons or emojis.

      If the Product does not meet the recommendations, its rating will be lowered, and it will be displayed in a worse position in the Market showcase. The Administration does not disclose quantitative parameters used for description evaluation and may remove any Product from the Market showcase without explaining which recommendations have been violated. Sellers are expected to use reasonable judgment in presenting their Products in the Market.

    good

    This is an arbitrary decision since the Metaquote's Market ecosystem is far from perfect.

    I design and develop products mainly for the brazilian Stock & Futures Market and THERE IS NO WAY to test my product on those markets. Backtesting IS NOT THE ANSWER for my products, because they will be used in realtime and for manual trading. That is the reason why I provide DEMO (time-limited) versions of my indicators for the general public.

    Please revise your rules... There are genuine reasons behind every approach in the Marketplace. Not all of us are scammers who try always to circumvent the system.

    If you want to have a devoted crowd of developers by your side, you need to be fair to those who always obey the rules.

    And remember, all markets change... As an example, here in Brazil, TradingView and NinjaTrader are gaining momentum...

    I'm loyal to the ecosystem that respects me...

    Cheers from Brazil!

    AND,  THERE IS NO SMALL FEE, since you don't allow it!

    Trial version is required, at least for a week or a month.

    how about making Trial Version to be at a charged small amount (Fraction of the Monthly fee), works fro limited time like 5 days excluding Market Closed days and metaqoutes makes it such that trial versions
    1. Work to 1 mql5.com account,
    2. PC linked

    It is not reasonable to give choice 1 week free trial,  Some people can keep using new accounts to get unlimited trial access.

    In my opinion, a small fee can be charged for a one-week trial, or Demo option can be added to the product to facilitate users to browse by category.

    Dear moderators and administrators of the forum!

    Demo versions running in the strategy tester do not allow users to test the program with a graphical interface.
    I create complex panels, the functionality of which can be evaluated when used only on the live chart.

    Your proposed option of placing the monthly version for a small fee is absolutely illogical, since the minimum cost is $30. It's stupid to pay $30 for a product test, when the product costs, for example, $50.

    Therefore, the correct solution is either to add a weekly version for a LOWER fee, or to create an opportunity to test any type of program in the tester, or to cancel these rules.
    These restrictions will force users to look for opportunities to earn money on other platforms.
