Bye bye MetaTrader 4! MONEX Group formally announces phase-out

Please read the link below and explain if this is true or not. If it is true then what does it mean to the traders who are using MeatTrader 4?

Yes, it's true, but the news isn't exactly hot off the press: https://www.mql5.com/en/forum/153154.  (In that comment, XXXX = IBFX; YYYY = FXCM; ZZZZ = Monex)

...For the avoidance of doubt, there are two firms called Monex. This refers to the very large Japanese brokerage, not www.mifx.com

So, the bottom line is we will not lose MetaTrader4?

Who is "we"? If you're a client of Monex the Japanese broker then, yes, MT4 is going to be turned off. If - as is probably more likely on this forum - you're a client of the entirely unrelated Indonesian Monex, then no.

  • I sure hope so that you are right. Since the news implied the whole MetaTrader4 will stop.

Really? The only bit I can see which says anything like that is "once the MetaTrader 4 platform has been discontinued". Leaprate could perhaps have worded that better, but it's clear from context than it means "discontinued by Monex".

Well, have you read some of the links? They were replacing MT4 by TradeStation! It is not - imho - because they don't like the recent updates.

It is interesting to have a look at the web-pages of TradeStation!

This Plattform is free for the broker but costs 250 per Month for the clients, Mt4 is expensive for the broker but doesn't cost us a dime!

Monex own Tradestation and IBFX. They have basically shut down IBFX, and now only offer Tradestation rather than an MT4-based service. In Japan, Monex themselves are going to be focussing on a different platform.

MT4 does "cost you a dime". You pay the broker through spreads or commission, and the broker pays MetaQuotes. MT4 is only a free platform if you have a demo account; real accounts cross-subsidise demo accounts. Brokers have to pay for demo MT4 Servers, and that money has to come from somewhere.
