Trader32 Journal: £10,000 goal for 2011

I am a retail forex trader. For the last two years I have made consistent profits, predominantly from scalping but also from a swing trading approach.

For 2011 my goal is to generate £10,000 in trading profits. This journal will chart my weekly progress.

This has been my best week of trading so far. Not only did I capture my biggest scalping pips haul, but I also did it on my largest size so far. Two profitable swing trades on smaller size were the icing on the cake!

My scalping performance was a little disappointing this week, due mainly to the loss on Wednesday. That 7.3 pip loss, on a long entry at 1.38824, is all the more annoying with price above 1.41 today, but that is the downside to being a scalper.

My swing trading on the other hand has produced a very nice profit this week, helped in large part by the events in Japan.

but this is not much. Some traders make this in one day!

Agreed...I know many traders for whom the commission per trade is more than my entire profit last year.

My focus the last two years has been to maintain consistent profitability and I have not worried about making large sums. I have found before that trading too large before you are consistent can lead to larger numbers, but in the negative column. Now that I have shown consistency, I am looking to increase my size.

Any comments on how to handle larger size most welcome :-)
