MetaTrader History Center: Preliminary information

As we promised, we will soon release a beta version of the new MetaTrader History Center service. This is a web-service providing in-depth minute history for many financial instruments (so far only Forex).

The function of downloading the history data is integrated in MetaTrader in the History Center window (Tools -> History Center or F2):

After you click on "Download", the missing or modified archives of quotes, grouped by months, will be downloaded. All archives are highly compressed, only modified files will be downloaded and the files are stored in /history/downloads.

After a successful download all the higher timeframes will be automatically rebuilt, which will provide absolutely correct and normalized history for all periods.

For those who work in local networks behind firewalls, you will most likely need to work through a proxy server (enabled in the terminal settings, HTTP/SOCKS4/SOCKS5 servers are supported) or allow direct access to history.metaquotes.net:80

How will the difference in quote time be taken into account for brokers with a different quote time than Metaquotes (a different time zone)? For example, the time difference between Metaquotes and InterbankFX is 2 hours. Will it be possible to correctly use the data from History Center or not?

And what about the "rollback" of quotes update? In other words, if I uploaded a new quote from History Center, but then, for whatever reason, decided to return the previous quotes of my broker, would it be possible or is it irreversible? And the rollback is only possible after manually deleting the history files and then restoring the native quotes from the backup?

The time difference is important, I join the question...
And another question: how soon will you launch this service?

All data is recalculated to the timezone of the broker where the import is going.

Rolling back the quotes is very simple - do a forced Refresh on the open chart (right-click menu) and re-download the available data from your broker's server. Of course this will result in increased traffic. In addition, a manual directory dump is always available.

Within a week we will run this service in test mode, and then we will put it out to public beta testing.

Will there even be tick data for the last month?)

a month is still not enough.... you can buy ticks from CQG

For tick-sensitive systems a month is a normal period. If you want to buy them, there's no sense, they are freely available, but you have to sweat a little bit to fit them to MT4.

Today we tested the new version with History Center - it works fine. But there are problems with the volumes of information, which we keep repeating.

The terminal gets uncomfortable when it has 3 million bars open on its charts (120Mb of data per chart) and the entire analytical environment is built around it. It consumes a lot of RAM. Works decently if your computer is powerful enough and the memory is 1Gb or more.

But as a reward from History Center we get 90% quality (maximum when using minutes) of simulation on periods from 1999:

For this purpose you should provide for "chunks" of history to be downloaded.

For the initial use, the entire history is not necessary, and for many traders, it does not make sense to waste Internet traffic for downloading the entire history. And if you download the whole history, you should be able to use "pieces" of the history to facilitate the computer's work. Say, as in the visual modeling, from date to date...

So it will be possible to download minutiae for all pairs since 1999?
And what, if not a secret, is the source of the data?

The history is uploaded by pressing just one button without any parameters. On the chart itself, you can limit the amount of data shown via the Max bars in charts parameter in the program settings. In other words, it can store millions of bars but work with hundreds of thousands in charts.

The tester can work with all available history.
