The Australian dollar is higher after trading in a tight range ahead of the release of some major economic news.
At 1700 AEDT on Monday, the currency was trading at 87.75 US cents, up from 87.47 cents on Friday.
Commonwealth Bank chief currency strategist Richard Grace said there had been very little movement in the local unit on Monday.
'It looks like it's remained in a very tight range,' Mr Grace said.
