During today's Asian session there have been some significant changes in the USD, CAD and GBP trading volume BUT the close of positions mainly caused them to see in the dropping total volume in all three currencies.

What does that mean?
If the sentiment changes only by the close of positions, there is no further interest in these currencies, which is necessary for trend moves to continue.

In short:
Increasing volume = stable market/currency
Decreasing volume = unstable market/currency

That's at least my observation so far.

The good thing is, we know exactly when it's better to stay at the sideline and keep our profits.

Todays London pre-market analysis provides a similiar situation like yesterday. The USD downtrend continues while EUR, GBP and CHF are gaining strength on the Long side.

The Asian currencies AUD, NZD and JPY loose dynamic on the Long side and became a weaker so we'll ignore them for today's London trading session.

During today's Asian session we had some massive changes in the retail trading volume and please note that we display all information from the BROKER SIDE of view.

The USD short side raised massively by more than 30%, which confirms the first impressions of yesterdays NY session. We expect this to continue and opened some BUY trades on EURUSD, GBPUSD while we SELL USDCAD, USDCHF and USDJPY.

AUDUSD and NZDUSD remain on the watchlist because their NET LONG growth is below 10%

Referring to yesterdays posting about the scalping approach the London pre-market analysis does not provide any lucrative currency combination right now.

The trading volume in the major USD pairs dropped by almost 10% so every movement in these pairs is just triggered by the closing of existing trading positions.
There is no new interest and retailers seem to be cautious. So we'll stay at the sideline and see if this changes during the now starting London session.

For me, the biggest benefit of FX Volume is to know when it's worth to spend time in front of the screen and when not.

Yesterday, I checked my terminal after the London opening and I saw that the trading volume of GBP rose by +5% during the Asian session and the total trading volume was increased as well.

So I used FX Power with its default analysis period to see what the GBP strength did during these 8 hours and set up some GBP sell trades afterwards.

The outcome was +250 Pips at the end of the day.

This morning I saw the trading volume decreased across all currencies. So I don't trade at all and spend my time with other things. If I now check my screen I see clearly that I missed absolutely nothing.

From that point of view, I can see that FX Volume made my trading days way more efficient than any other tool and that's what counts the most for me.
