I also run accounts with multiple EA and use software to monitor their performance on those accounts.

Your EA is the only one not picked up by the software due to its magic number situation I suspect?

I dont mean to come across as being hyper critical of your EA, the truth is I think your EA is great and has had 11 wins and no losses so far.

Thanks a lot, Dougal. And winning all 11 is precisely the kind of thing that we love hearing about. But don't forget that it's a matter of consistency and not a run of wins.

You've correctly identified the issue. You see, there is a fixed value within the EA code, which is a magic number and not an input from the user. That's why it's impossible for your monitoring program to distinguish between trades made by the EA and other trades in your account. Of course, it is a legitimate concern from a customer who uses multiple EAs and an excellent one at that. I will include an input for a Magic Number in the next version of the EA.

Fair enough – 5 years sounds like something that works. It’s just that external news filters do create a dependency factor, which is precisely why you get those breakdowns in situations with extremely volatile spikes (such as the NFP on XAUUSD).

The point is not to deny that these systems work; it is simply about eliminating all risks associated. Consistency beats dependency. It is also a personal choice after all.

Do you mean that i have to enter all red folder news times like NFP manually on the same day as it happens into the EA to stop the EA trading the news?

I am trading over 40 EA's and I would prefer at least an option to get this done automatically like many other EA's do, particularly if i was running multiple instances of your EA on different accounts.

You are absolutely correct, Dougal! It's quite unfeasible to manually enter news windows daily for 40 EAs as well as multiple accounts. The present filter depends only on time; and while this might be alright for one or two EAs, there definitely needs to be a change.

There's actually a solution we're developing, which would automatically filter out news depending on the economic calendar. We're talking about a filter using the MQL5 Economic Calendar that's included in the MT5 platform. Our team will solve the issue in the next update.

Great news, and your EA is smashing it so far, well done.
