ABC of Breakout Trading with Fractal Pattern

Here we introduce ABC of Breakout Trading with Fractal Pattern. Fractal Pattern is the ultimate tool to predict Fractal Wave in the financial market. We are not talking about the Fractal indicator by Bill Williams. Fractal indicator does not adapt the fractal wave since the indicator is not alternating peak and trough in turn. However, we are talking about more like Elliott Wave pattern, which encompasses small waves inside bigger wave.

We call this big fractal wave made up from several mini waves as the Mother Wave. We call the mini waves inside the mother wave as child waves. In Fractal Pattern Scanner, detecting of highly probable breakout pattern is an automatic process. Hence, you will notified when the potential breakout pattern is detected. When the breakout pattern is detected, we need to understand what is the A, B, C to trade with breakout. A, B and C are all expressed as the number of bars for easy application in practice. We count the bars from the latest bar to backwards. For example, 2 bar ago in H1 timeframe means that it references the bar in 2 hours ago. Here is the brief description of A, B and C for trading breakout in terms of their time reference.

A: Position of the origin (peak or trough) of the breakout: This is the important reference for breakout because this is the first fixed reference position before breakout happens.

B: the current position of breakout (peak or trough) after the profit was running for sometime.

C: Distance between origin of breakout and current position of breakout ( A-B =C)

Hence, with A, B and C, we have the following relationship of A – B = C. A, B, C helps you to recognize if the signal is how fresh or mature for your trading. For example, if the distance C is small, it means that it is fresh and young opportunity to trade. If the distance C is large, it means that the breakout signal was running for some profit already.

For working example in H1 timeframe, 52 – 2 = 50 indicates that the origin of Breakout was 52 bar ago (i.e 52 hours ago) and current position of breakout is 2 bar ago (i.e. 2 hour ago). Hence, the distance C is 50 bar (50 hours.).

Up to this point, someone might question back why not using the actual breakout at the breakout level as the time reference ? Yes, it could be valid thinking. However, counting the actual breakout at the breakout level is fuzzy. Sometime, price might just touch the level, pull back for sometime and revisit the breakout level, etc. Around this area, all sort of things can happen. However, peak and trough before breakout happens provides the fixed reference point for the breakout.

We hope that with this simple article, you can understand how peak and trough analysis is connected to Breakout Trading. Please check the screenshot to find out ABC of breakout trading. Harmonic Pattern Detection Indicator MT4

Trading Indicator is the realization of particular theory or trading strategy or trading ideas for real world trading. There is always gap between theory (i.e. ideas or strategy) and practice. This is the same for Harmonic Pattern trading too.

Hence, not all the harmonic pattern detection indicators are the same. The main variations of Harmonic pattern indicators can be categorized as following four types. Users should understand the pros and cons of each variation to maximize their trading performance with harmonic patterns.

Type 1: Non lagging (fast signal) but repainting

option to enter from turning point. Indicator does not show the failed pattern in chart and last pattern can repaint. This is almost considered as standard Harmonic Pattern Indicator. Even if they are repainting, harmonic pattern trader just accept it as it is. 99% of time, this is the harmonic pattern product you will get from the market whether they are free or paid one. You can trade live with this indicators but historical patterns can not be used to fine tune your strategy.

Type 2: Lagging (slow signal) but non repainting

no option to enter at turning point (i.e. early signal). This type of indicator turns harmonic pattern indicator as slow as moving average cross over. It might be not overly attractive option for your trading. Indicator does not show the failed pattern. Hence, you can not use historical patterns to tune your strategy but last pattern does not repaint. You can trade live with this indicators but historical patterns can not be used to fine tune your strategy. Probably about 1% of harmonic pattern indicator is this type.

Type 3: Detecting pattern at point C but repainting

option to enter at turning point. Indicator detect pattern too early and you have to wait quite bit of time until price move near the point D. In fact, price may not move near point D. You might just waste your time waiting for the pattern. Indicator does not show the failed pattern and last pattern can repaint. You can trade live with this indicators but historical patterns can not be used to fine tune your strategy. Probably about 1% of harmonic pattern indicator is this type.

Type 4: Non lagging (fast signal) and non repainting

option to enter from turning point. At the same time, the pattern is not repainting. This is hybrid of all above three system and can be considered as the most powerful harmonic pattern indicator. You can trade live with this indicators and you can also use historical patterns to fine tune your strategy. With this indicator, you are complying perfectly with the statement “Trade What you See”.

New Version of Fractal Pattern Scanner coming – 9 June 2020

We are currently working on the new version of Fractal Pattern Scanner. We are trying to improve its signal part for your convenience.

In the new version, the detected breakout signal (mother wave) will be described in terms of A – B = C.

Respectively, A, B and C are described as below:

A: How many bar ago the origin (peak or trough) of the breakout was detected

B: How many bar ago the current position of breakout (peak or trough) was detected

C: Distance between origin of breakout and current position of breakout ( A-B =C)

Therefore, with C, you can find out how fresh or mature the breakout signal is immediately. Smaller distance (C) means the fresh breakout to enter. Depending on the market condition, you can also enter the breakout while it is running too.

We have described this breakout trading example of A-B = C in the screenshot 1 and screenshot 2.

Screenshot 1 was created when the breakout signal was just given from Fractal Pattern Scanner in EURUSD H1 timeframe.

Then in Screenshot 2 was created after the breakout was running for profit for sometime in the same chart.

As a trader, I can not emphasize enough about the importance of support and resistance. Support and resistance is the most popular technical analysis tool in the world of trading.
