Reasons why tick scalpers very rarely (not to say never) work on Metatrader 4:
1 - Metatrader looses (misses) from 30% to 40% of real market ticks (because it is too slow to process them) leaving with much less information and a considerable delay while trading.
2 - Metatrader 4 doesn't have Depth Of Market information, leaving us only faith on stats while opening a position. We don't know if there is a wall of pending orders on the other side of our trade.
3 - Big investment companies have developed million dollar HFT systems that are simply great arbitrage machines, chasing all stops in the market, and we can't compete with that if we are not millionaires and if we can't develop our own system. Furthermore those HFT systems are trained to recognized players in the market. If we start gaining consistently and with big lot sizes, the HFT will detect us and start to profit on us. They have enough margin to make the market move in small percentages.
4 - If someone ever develop a tick scalper that work on MT4 and start selling the EA, very quickly the market will be invaded by tons of similar orders, and the liquidity of the market won't be as great as before the EA became popular.

Just to add some conclusion do my thoughts. Metatrader 5 would be an alternative for Tick scalpers, since it offers DOM, also Metaquotes have managed to reduced tick losses to zero on MT5, and now they even offer a bridge to Graphcial boards processors, which would allow us to make real HFT EAs with MT5.

I have been coding some MT4 and MT5 EAs, and to make simple tasks happens we need to code dozens of lines. My last EA had more than 1000 lines, since I need to code an entire new function for everything I want to do. Today I just discovered EasyLanguage. In less than 100 lines I did code the same strategy as would take 1000 lines in MQL4/5... Metaquotes could also implement a library of functions to make it easier for us. I know, there are a lot of great articles in the community. But having a library of the most used functions would be great. Like TrailingStop and BE functions. Money Manager (Lotsize) functions. Date and time limitators functions would be a start. But many others can be implemented, whcih would saver hours and hours and hours of programming.

It is a Language created by Tradestation, and used in other softwares like Multicharts, OEC Trader (OpenECry) and maybe some others. Even a non programmer could make a strategy in minutes.
