Ginkle EURUSD M5

Ginkle EURUSD M5 is a trading system that aims to take a set percentage out of the market when all signals are favorable.

  • The EA will trade until the set equity goal is reached - and then send the owner an email message when that goal is reached
  • The EA can run continuously - but this is not recommended as more equity gain can be achieved on interval trading
  • The EA is running on a live trading account (*) to show that short term goals can be reached and repeated
  • The EA is specifically designed for EURUSD attached to the 5 minute chart and a minimum of 1:50 leveraged account
Please read the following instructions carefully before you backtest or start trading live

  • Short Term Equity Rise Goal % - This is the percentage you wish your balance to grow short term (from 1 to 7)
  • Long Term Equity Rise Goal % - This is the percentage you wish your balance to grow long term (from 0 to infinity)
  • Use variable trade size - Set this to 1 if you want to recalculate your lot size after every cycle (compounding)
  • Close all trades and stop robot - If you change this to 1 when the robot runs it will close any open trades and exit

Before you start there are two steps:

Step 1: determine your short term goal based on your trading style (linearly scalable from Minimum yield to Maximum yield)

By setting the Short Term Equity Rise Goal percentage you determine how much profit per short term cycle you wish to make. In the table below you can see how much average drawdown you can expect by using different percentages. A short term cycle can be anywhere from a day to several weeks in length.

Drawdown table

Minimum DD Maximum DD

Short Term Equity Rise Goal %
1 2 3 4 5
6 7

Expected avg yield per month
3% 6% 9% 12% 15% 18% 21%

Expected maximum drawdown
3-8% 5-15% 5-20% 5-25% 5-32% 5-38% 5-45%

Step 2: Understand the method of interval trading

The method that produces the best results is semi-automated using only the Short Term Equity Rise Goal % parameter. The method is as follows:

  • Verify your parameters and email settings in MetaTrader4 (*)
  • Start the EA on any day of the week except on Fridays - preferably anywhere between 00:00 and 06:00 AM New York time
  • The EA will monitor and enter the market within hours or days and exit within days or weeks
  • The EA will close trades and halt trading if the Short Term Equity Rise goal is met and send you an email
  • At that point you need to decide what to do with the generated profit (*) and restart the EA the following day - EXCEPT if that day is a Friday
  • Do not start the EA on a Friday or within 24 hours from any holiday (e.g. if Wednesday is a holiday do not start on Tuesday)
  • Recommended starting time is anywhere between 00:00 and 06:00 AM NY time on the next available trading day

Depending on market conditions the EA needs to be started anywhere from once every two days to once every four weeks. Every time you restart means you have reached your short term equity rise goal meaning your account balance has grown up to 7%.

Backtesting the recommended method of interval trading requires some extra work but it will be worth it.

  • Make sure the timeframe is M5
  • Make sure the spread is current or if testing off hours a reasonable value
  • Select Every Tick - the most accurate form
  • Start by not using any date - the tester will use all available data
  • Set Short Term Equity Rise Goal % to desired percentage (see DD table)
  • Make sure you have enough starting balance (the EA will warn if not)
  • Start the run
  • The EA will stop at a certain point after generating your desired percentage
  • Click results - check which date the goal was reached
  • Keep track of your DD and gains and restart the test starting from the next available trading day
  • Do not start on Fridays or within 24 hours of a holiday
  • Repeat until you have processed all your data (may take a while)
  • Examine the results by counting how many times you reached your goal

Running a continuous test (not recommended for live trading)

  • Set Short Term Equity Rise Goal % as desired
  • Set Long Term Equity Rise Goal % to 9999
  • Set variable trade size to 1
  • Run the test

A continuous run is only a quick assessment. The EA will use the same algorithm but will give lower final results and higher drawdown.
