I am a long term trader and investor but have never used this platform. Further I have never auto traded. I am looking for a long term relationship with someone that has technical programming skills but also has market knowledge and an understanding of what works and what doesn't. I also want to be challenged and second guessed as I value truth and logic. I prefer simple over complex and want to walk before I run. I need help from setting everything up to getting something running and I currently trade on IB.
By way of background I currently create specific stock universes using several different sources. They range from growth, value and momentum, etc. Each week from those universes I select two stocks at close on Friday and hold them until close the next Friday and rebalance. In these cases I am long only and have a market timing outside of the system. I currently use no stops.
Occasionally I buy a bad stock but on balance I do well. My thought is to have an auto trade system that will accept my stock selections and then trade short term pullbacks or scalps while I hold them. Inherent in that would be getting out if a downtrend develops in a stock and perhaps catching a top rather than waiting until next Friday to see how things worked out. There is no magic to Friday and I can see things evolving to replacing stocks more quickly that fail or do really well.
To start I would be happy being able to test one stock say live long only with a rational set of rules and then expanding and adjusting to include multiple stocks. I am open as to what the ideal rules might be but suspect pullback and/or logical scalping rules make the most sense. Again simple is likely better as this is a hoped for improvement to a system that is already working. Down the line I have a similar set of stocks to perhaps short. Open to realistic pricing for the needed help. Thank you.
