There is nothing like the best currency pair in the forex market; but the top traded currencies are EUR/USD, USD.GBP, USD/NZD. One thing with currency pairs is that, a currency may be profitable today after major news and becomes very volatile the next day. For instance, my favourite currency has been the EUR/USD, but since the Japanese recession, I have been able to make few thousands of profits on my Profiforex account while trading the USD/JPY currency.
there is a popular pair but the word best really depends, some people make more money on pairs they know rather than trading popular ones, so no best pairs i say!!
